DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDINGΤhis corner building with a wide facade is located on Moustoxidou Street, in the area widely known as “Porta Remounda”. The original construction of the building has been subjected to extended modifications, additions and demolitions, while the interior of the building has been extensively transformed and has been adjusted to its current use. As we know it today, it is comprised of three floors, the top of which is recessed. Morphologically, the facades are characterized by a tendency towards horizontal articulation and they are organized by rhythmically-distributed openings, which are rectangular on the upper floors and arched on the ground floor. A wide cornice divides the floors, while the corners of the building are highlighted by exposed cornerstones on the ground floor. The most distinctive feature of the front facade is the stone frame of the entrance. The bold variation of red on the walls is in contrast with the features made of white stone, creating an impressive result. Since the 1990’s, the building has been accommodating the Consulate of Serbia in Corfu, while a permanent exhibition entitled “Serbs in Corfu, 1916-1918” was installed in the later years.
