DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDINGThis building is situated on the coastal road at the northern part of town, adjacent to the Kapodistrias mansion, the Corfu Reading Society, and a number of upper-class residencies. The building was the residence of the Palatianos family. The mansion is dated from the British rule, and it belongs to the multi-storey building with a narrow facade type. In 1862, the main facade was remodeled, and the top floor was added during a later building phase, according to the drawings of the renowned architect F. Rivelli. The harmonious composition of the facade has several interesting morphological features. On the level of the ground floor there are three arched openings: the main entrance door and two windows. The design on the upper floors relies on the use of balconies and the division of the top floor with a white horizontal cornice. Bibliography: 1.
